I got my first camera when I was two. Yes…it was a water bottle that looked like a camera…but I digress. It was my favorite toy ever. I played with it night and day, did “photoshoots” of my barbies, and it only progressed from there. I have never lost that passion.

We’re about to get real deep here. When I was 13, my 18-year-old sister was killed in a car accident. Some of the most precious things we have of her now are the senior portraits she’d had taken just weeks before. I am so thankful we have those. Then, when I was 36, I lost my mom too… suddenly, with no warning at all. What’s left of both of these truly special women, now, are the memories. And the photos.
I know this isn’t your typical “about me” story…but it’s mine, and it’s part of why I do this work. I’ve learned twice now, in the hardest way possible, that the moments we’re in right now don’t stay. So capturing them — really capturing them, not just the posed smile but the whole feeling of a season — is pretty much my favorite thing in the world.

From the beginning of my business in 2012, I have made it my absolute goal to capture the moments…and not just everyone smiling and looking at the camera. Because one day, it may be all we have left.
